April

Pruning tutorials on your site.
Learn the basics and fine points of pruning, working along side Lilian Jackman in your own yard. While correctly pruning your trees and shrubs, we will cover appropriate tools for pruning, the best times, and the health of your plant material vs. aesthetic considerations. $40/hr. Limit 2 students/tutorial.

Sunday, April 20: Wattle Fence Workshop
Enjoy a fun Sunday afternoon learning the traditional craft of wattle fence construction. First, we will harvest a dozen varieties of Willow from a stand at Wilder Hill and then weave a beautiful fence from the multi-colored, flexible stems. Skill easily transferable to the brush in your own yard. Bring a pair of clippers or loppers and gloves. (Rain date: Sunday, April 27.)

Learn two styles of the simple but profoundly beautiful Japanese form of floral arranging using material from Wilder Hill Gardens. ($50 pre-registration)

September 21: Woody Plant Sale
Purchase nursery grown trees, shrubs and roses at end of season prices at the perfect time for transplanting. Selection limited but plants vibrantly healthy.

Putting the Garden to Bed Class
We will demystify end of season perennial propagation, design concepts and secrets of a healthy garden in this hands-on workshop. Participants will go home with plant divisions and skills to efficiently care for their own yards.

Wreath Making at Wilder Hill Gardens

Drop-in Wreath Making Workshop

Stop by any time to create a full, fragrant wreath from balsam and mixed greens, in our barn. All materials provided. Bring clippers and gloves. ($25)
